Charles Scott is the founder, owner and program director for Future Prospects Baseball.

It is his unique vision and personal commitment to the proper training and instruction of ballplayers of all ages that has distinguished the Future Prospects program from all others. As conceived by Charles, Future Prospects was developed on the principles of providing a comprehensive program of lessons, camps and clinics, travel teams and fitness training that will allow students to progress and develop their skills to their fullest potential in a supportive and personalized learning environment.

Charles began his journey in life and baseball growing up in Marin County, just north of San Francisco. As a highly coveted high school athlete, he committed to one of the top collegiate baseball programs in the country, Arizona State University where he developed a lifelong friendship with his teammate and roommate, Barry Bonds. Together they led ASU to back-to-back appearances in the College World Series.

In 1985 Charles was drafted in the sixth round by the Cleveland Indians, beginning a nine year playing career with three major league organizations: the Cleveland Indians, Minnesota Twins and Seattle Mariners. A highly talented and versatile player, he was drafted as both a position player and a pitcher. After his rookie year in pro ball where he played as a pitcher and DH, he converted to solely pitching which led to All Star honors in the Midwest League and the Carolina League, where he led the league in ERA.

After a promotion to AA and then being added to 40-man major league roster that year, Charles suffered a severe rotator cuff injury that cut short his promising career. Undeterred, Charles returned home and completed his university degree before resuming his baseball career as a pro scout over a nine-year period where he served as a Supervising Scout for the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, Regional Cross Checker for the Arizona Diamondbacks and a National Cross Checker for the Washington Nationals.

Despite his tremendous success as a pro scout, Charles chose to refocus his life on his family and local community. In 2002 he launched Future Prospects Baseball with the idea of dedicating his wealth of experience and teaching talents to the development of a baseball growth and development program for young players through high school, college and professional ranks.

Future Prospects rapidly expanded from its modest beginnings on a small open field in Novato, California to a highly praised comprehensive training and competitive play program with state-of-the-art training facilities in San Rafael, California and Fresno, California. In so doing, Charles has assembled a highly talented and experienced professional coaching staff to provide the most personalized and supportive environment for athletes of all ages to develop their skills to their fullest potential.
